Spiritual jewelry has been worn for thousands of years and in every religion and culture. Superstition and religion have claimed that spiritual jewelry would bring them luck, or love, or wealth. Although this is probably not the case, still spiritual jewelry has always had a place in every culture and every religion.
All religions have had spiritual jewelry. Christians, Buddhists, New Agers, Hindu, Celtics and others wear symbols that reflect their respective religious beliefs. Jewelry in the form of crosses, crucifixes, and rosaries are worn by Catholics and are supposed to be a reminder of the suffering of Jesus Christ. In addition, medals and medallions are often
worn by Catholics as well as non-Catholics.

The wearing of spiritual jewelry by celebrities like Miley Cyrus, David Beckham, Julia Roberts, and Mariska Hargitay has helped create a huge market in religious jewelry. The public response when a celebrity is seen wearing spiritual jewelry on the red carpet or in entertainment or fashion magazines is to loosen up the purse strings and buy. Recent movies such as “Eat Pray Love” have inspired new designs in faith based or spiritual jewelry.
About ninety percent of all jewelers carry items that could be considered spiritual or religious in nature. This trend is certain to continue.

There seems to be a new attitude toward these items of spiritual jewelry as people are realizing that the superstitions associated with them are just that and baubles, bangles and beads are just ornaments that enhance the body. Today people are taking a little from Buddhism, a little yoga, some Christian mysticsm, Native American symbolism and Jewish jewelry and Celtic crafts and are wearing these types of jewelry, not as a statement of their beliefs or a religious symbol, but because they like them and think they look good.
The best selling spiritual jewelry, unlike the Star of David (as an example) is not representative of any specific religion or culture.
It is fitting that every part of the feminine physique has been consistently used to support ornaments and the spiritual jewelry of yesterday has become just jewelry today.
